If you check the data sheets it turns out that most 2 lead fans are actually 4 lead fans, but without lead 3 and 4 pre-soldered to the fan body. So mostly you just have to peel off the sticker covering the pads where the leads are soldered and solder on your own flying cable on the empty pads.
